New CD 'In shadows' to be released in April

In shadows is the title of Ian's latest CD, whch will be released on the opening night of this year's Sligo New Music Festival (15th April).

Featuring the RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet, saxophonist Cathal Roche, pianist Hugh Tinney and double bassist Malachy Robinson, the disc features one of Ian's most significant recent works, re:play for (improvising) tenor saxophonoe, string quartet, piano and double bass. Partnering this remarkable piece are two recent string quartets - Across a clear blue sky (no.10) and im Schatten (no.11).

This is Ian's fourth portrait CD on the British independent label Riverrun and the composer is delighted to continue what has been a very fruitful collaboration with the label's owner and producer John Mercer.
